Halloween was a month full fun for us- we did trips to the pumpkin patches, pumpkin decorating and trick or treating at the aquarium!! We have no pics from trick or treating on Halloween as our camera accidentally was left at Grandma and PaPa's (Jenny is in charge of those pics)... but luckily we had already dressed up several times!

Anna Cate could not have been more excited about going back to Mom's Day out....and truthfully,I wasn't too! Anna has the same teachers from last year and we ADORE them-so happy day for everybody. I let Anna pick out her own outfit yesterday and while it wouldn't have been my 1st choice- it was SO her and THAT I love :-)!!

Well we survived this day- Avery's FIRST day of kindergarten. I was a mess- I mean a MESS- but Avery didn't shed a tear and asked me to leave more than once. She was SO excited and she had SUCH a great day. I'm SO proud of her and so excited for all she we will learn this year. I missed her like crazy today and I'm dreading tomorrow but I know everyday will get easier....

Yes, its true we are 9 days away from school starting, or at least Avery starting school. AHH! I still can't believe she is going to be in kindergarten and gone ALL day. I have friends who keep reassuring me that it won't be as drastic and dramatic as I have envisioned...but we'll see. The last couple of weeks, since the cousins left, we have STAYED busy! Avery attended Music camp at a church near our house for the 3rd year, we have been catching up with friends, playing at home-AND making our trip to the dentist...oh yeah and I took avery to get her school supplies :-)

I am sending the girls to Bentonville tomorrow for a few days. I have SO much to do around our house and I think a break will be good for all of us. I miss them already but I know they will have a GRAND time and I will get some alone time...AND some Brett time, both of which are now in order! I can't believe that the next time I post it will probably be 1st day of school pics! So for summer...that's a WRAP!

Cousins, Cousins and Cowgirls

We have had the BEST summer-albeit CRAZY busy. And beware, this post is Long...
My sister in law, niece and nephew came to stay at Brett's parents' for about 3 weeks in between closing on their old house and moving into their new house; Dylan was here on the weekends but he had to go to work- in Roanoke, VA during the week. Unfortunately, their new house is still in Frisco, TX- but we crammed a BUNCH of cousin time in while we had them here. Avery and Evelyn are only 5 days apart in age- and they play SO well together. It is comical how they take turns "being the boss"- Tiff & I were amazed that we didn't have a single fight to break up, they just worked it out! Gage and Anna are buddies out of default, and Gage takes great care of her- even if it isn't always his first choice. I LOVED having them here- I feel like I know them SO much better and my kids REALLY LOVED having them here- in fact, they aren't sure what to do with themselves now that they're gone!

We let the girls spend the night together every OTHER night so there was SOME sleeping going on. This was Evie's first night at our house- and Avery's first sleepover at our house :-)

The next day we took a girls trip to the mall and got some new shades AND a ride on the carousel

We took the girls to My Little Dollhouse for playtime one afternoon. This was Annie's first time.

This was evie's first trip to this place- but she knew the ropes from similar spots. She was ready to dress up!

Anna just wanted to do what everyone else was doing!

We took a break from Avery's cousins in Tulsa to go to Arkansas to see MY cousin (Amy) and her girls. It was MORE fun, MORE girls and MORE craziness!

And back home to our other cousins for MORE fun! This time Tiffany had to go to Dallas to close on the house,L&B were leaving for their Germany trip so ALL the kids stayed with us for 1 night. We stayed BUSY and had LOTS of fun!

And, last but certainly not least we had Macie Drue and Maddox's 3/5 year old Bday party last weekend. AS always, they did it RIGHT- with perfect decor, ponies to ride, & cupcakes to eat!

ANNA is getting to be SUCH a big girl. She is changing daily...and in case I haven't mentioned it she is a Crack up, I swear! We just ran into her preschool teacher yesterday and she told me Anna had grown SO much in TWO months! This post really should've happened prior to our beach trip but needless to say things have been a little busy around here so I just hadn't done it yet...BUT alas, here they are.

AND...Annie had her second set of tubes put in and her adenoids out at the end of June- she as amazing. She was scared for about 30 seconds and then she did GREAT.....SO proud of her.

Next item: Potty Training......and Mom for one is DREADING it.

We took our first family vacation-with Brett's parents, brother and his family- to the BEAUTIFUL beaches of South Carolina. We were gone from Sunday-Sunday and I was a stressed out, over packing frantic mess prior to our departure and that was all for naught because it was a FABULOUS vacation. Our flights were on time- my kids were amazingly well behaved- the weather was sunny- the accomodations were beautiful-and the company was PERFECT! I'm ready to go back :-) Here are a few of my favorite pictures...

It has happened again- Avery is another year older and this one was HUGE to me. My baby girl is FIVE! We celebrated her ALL day on Saturday- we started with her birthday party at Tulsa World of Gymnastics. IT was MUCH fun! We then headed straight to her last soccer game of the season, followed by the end of the year soccer party. Then home for a quick rest (for Avery!) and then Saturday evening- Larry & becky and my parents came over for dinner and to watch Avery open presents. CRAZINESS but FUN!

Gymnastics Observation Day & Avery's LAST day of Pre-K

We had such a fun week last week despite Avery being a little under the weather- again! On Wednesday, the girls had Observation Day at gymnastics. On a normal gym day, parents are not allowed in the gym- we can watch the kids on "tv" but its hard to get the full effect! So once in a while they have a day where we can come in, take pics, etc.....and I brought Larry and Becky with me so Larry could get good pictures...he's got a MUCH better eye for such things:-)!

Today Anna had her End of the Year Bash at school- they had carnival activities this morning, followed by a pizza lunch and then an afternoon of bath foam, water fun and snow cones. Needless to say- she was a mess but she had some fun. I helped with the carnival this morning (which was chaos) and then Avery and I just went up for the last few minutes of water day...and avery insisted she needed a swim suit on too- if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right??

Much like her sister- to Anna, all the world is her stage and she needed to dance.

Friends and Fiestas

So sadly the main reason I haven't blogged lately- I have taken all of 15 pictures TOTAL in the last 6 weeks and 14 of them were on the same day. I am sad about that because I feel like the girls are changing right before my eyes so I am determined to do better- starting NOW! Here's what I DO have...

Avery has been asking to have Connor over since school started and we finally did- they were sweet together,although Avery was sick and I didn't know it until it was too late....

Avery had her end of the year party at school on Friday-it was a beach themed party and despite the 60 degrees and flooding going on outside, the beach party inside was FUN! Anna got to go to her first event at Avery's school and she thought she was BIG time:-)..... One more week of school, and then I guess I have to officially call Avery a kindergartener!

Kriegs at a Glance.

I can't believe that it is April. Really? Where did the last 6 weeks go?!?! Per the request of a couple of someones- here is our month at a glance....

Bob and Gigi came to visit on a cool rainy weekend so Bob and Avery took the opportunity to go to the neighborhood pond and catch a fish...no luck but they had fun!

Anna had Donuts for Dads at school- she is SUCH a daddy's girl and LOVED having him there to visit!

Avery and Anna modeled their St. Patrick's Day attire at the beginning of march!

Both girls started gymnastics in March- they LOVE it and I can't believe how much avery is improving!

We all went to Sesame Street Live together. It was Avery's third time and Anna's FIRST. I have to admit- we had a GREAT time, I loved it...its just SO much fun to experience these things through my kids' eyes!

Avery got mad because Elmo wouldn't actually come talk to her- she wanted to show him her elmo shirt & tattoo....and when he didn't run to listen, THIS was her response.

March at the Kriegs meant LOTS of good basketball. Brett and I have always followed Baylor sports- even when they are terrible. BUT tThis year, it was SUPER DUPER fun to have a GREAT team to cheer for. For our Sweet 16 game Avery and I made Bear Cookies to get game-ready!

Anna got a new blanket from my Grandma Walker and and she loves snuggling with it. She and Avery use their "princess" blankets daily!

We let Avery make some decisions on her "activities" for the month. She CHOSE to quit dance in order to take gymanstics and soccer. We had her first practice AND game this week. The game was interesting- Avery got REALLY nervous and didn't like her jersey so she freaked out about going. However, once we got there- she did GREAT! And Anna loved watching- until she took a spill in the mud. Love that kid.

We had a mid-week playdate at the park with some of Avery's school friends. It was so fun to see them play together. We went while the little ones were at Moms Day Out so the moms actually got to sit and visit while the big kids PLAYED!

Then Easter arrived! We had SUCH a glorious Easter weekend. HE HAS RISEN! We celebrated with my parents on Friday and Saturday and then after church on Sunday, we spent the day at Larry an Becky's.

In the middle of my days I think 5:00 may never arrive and on Tuesday mornings I'm pretty sure I won't make it until Friday. BUT...when I look back now, I can NOT believe that my baby girl is TWO years old today. Anna Cate challenges me EVERY day and I love her for that. She is NOTHING like Avery and I love her for that. She is daddy's little girl and I love her for that. And when she says Meh (her word for kiss) and Hug to her mommy and squeezes me tight, UGH I love her for that. Today we celebrate my crazy-hyper, ear infected, stomach aching, food throwing, monkey climbing, wild woman for EVERY day and every minute of her first 2 years! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!

Christmas- Round 2

We just got spoiled this year-we didn't have to travel AT ALL and Brett was at home from Christmas Eve until today. We tried to get out and play a little bit despite the ridiculously cold weather and snow but mostly we just stayed home and LOVED it. We did have Christmas with the Kriegs on the 30th and spent New Years Eve at PaPa and Grandma Becky's house! The kids all had SUCH a Merry Christmas!

Well things didn't go exactly according to plan this Christmas but it was a fabulous and memorable, not to mention WHITE Christmas none the less. My brother was supposed to make it in Christmas Eve and his flight was cancelled but he was able to fly in about lunchtime Christmas day- and we had a fun filled couple of days :-)!

Ahh..Bob, mom and I made a Christmas Eve morning run to Target and ended up wtih matching undies for jd and Brett. We thought it was hilarious.....they didn't see the humor but they humored us anyway.

Avery wants to dress up- all the time- and I do mean ALL the time. My aunt sent a BOX of dress up clothes (dance costumes) a little over a year ago and Avery wears them more than she wears her own clothes so THANKS AUNT MILLIE!!! She also loves to perform...she called JD up to sing with her but then sent him back to seat shortly after.

Dad is called to the stage next but he wasn't given much time either.

I know, 2 posts in 2 days- who am I, right? Jenny just took some pics I couldn't resist posting! Our neighborhood HOA brings Santa in every year and he will come to your door, stay for a few minutes and talk to the kids while you take your own pics. This is the first year we have participated and it was the best $20 I've spent on Santa visits! There were no lines, the screaming was minimal, the kids were genuinely excited (other than Anna who was quite concerned), and Jenny takes MUCH better pics than the old ladies at the mall- whom I believe I paid over $40 last year for a so so picture. Anyway- yeah for a FUN neighborhood activity and YEAH for Santa pics :-)

In Pre-K it is a VERY exciting day when your name is pulled from the hat on Friday and Buddy Bear gets to come home with you for the whole weekend! I am actually quite relieved that the weekend friend is just a stuffed animal because I remember when I was in Kindergarten, I had to bring home the class hamster and I dreaded that day then and I would dread it even more now. Anyway- Buddy Bear came home with Avery on Friday and she could not have been more thrilled..I just finished the photo journal from the weekend..here's a sneak peak :)

The Browns and the Kriegs made a pilgramge to explore Brett's roots....okay not really we just headed downtown for Tulsa's Oktoberfest! The kids got to ride some silly rides, eat corn dogs and do the chicken dance. The grownups got to ride silly silly rides, eat brauts and do the chicken dance...oh yeah and drink a bier :-0

This year we are getting plenty of wear out of the girls' costumes- we kicked off the celebrations last week with a neighborhood costume parade, had a carnival at Brett's office on Wednesday, Annie had her school party on Thursday and we helped host a costume party at the Dunhams on Friday then we finally ended with a trick or treating adventure tonight! I'm EXHAUSTED and so are my sweet girls but we have had SO MUCH FUN! I'd also like to add for sympathy votes that in between all the fun this week, Avery & I both had the "throw ups" and now my sweet little one is running a 101+ temp....fun stuff.

Avery had her first dance performance today...although their dance wasn't quite ready so they just sang their Christmas song instead. They went to the nursing home next to where the "studio" is and the residents were thrilled to see them all! It was quite an adventure for both of us and we are BOTH worn out tonight!

Tulsa Fair

We had our annual trip to the Tulsa fair last night with the Dunhams and as always it did not disappoint. All 4 kids LOVED it and we had a great time...it is just too much fun to watch the kids experiencing such new things!!

My sweet and crazy little Anna started mother's day out today at Cedar Ridge. My mom called me this morning to see if I was sad and I can honestly say I WAS NOT! Anna has had zero separation anxiety and LOVES to be busy and around people so I was so sure that she be happy at school..plus I need the 2 hours I get to myself (yes, that's 2 hours PER WEEK) so it was a win-win. When we got to school it was kind of weird to recognize about ONE person after having Avery there for 2 years but other than that- it was great. Anna walked right in and started trying to comfort the kids in her class who were sad. She thinks she's the teacher...wonder where she would get that? She was still sound asleep when I got there to pick her up and even after waking her from a sound sleep, she had a sweet smile on her face. AND when I asked her if she liked school she said, Yes....and most of the time no matter what I ask her she says, "NO." YEAH for Mom's day OUT!!!

Trip to Texas

We made our annual trip to Texas for the Fantasy Football draft a couple of weekends ago. The location of the draft changes from year to year but the plans remain fairly consistent- the boys get together to do their thing and the girls get together to take care of all of the kids. Ha Ha...the joke is really on the boys because we have found ways to make it FUN for US too. Avery, Anna and I ALL had a GREAT time in Dallas. Avery stayed with her Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Dylan all weekend to have some FUN COUSIN time with Gage and Evelyn. Anna and I went to spend the weekend at Mandy's with Abby, Leslie and Ian.... ahh, it was great fun. I didn't get any fabulous pictures to capture all of the fun but I'll share what I did get. On Saturday Mandy, as always, graciously opened her home to anyone who wanted to come over...and we had quite a crowd. I loved seeing EVERYONE! And on Saturday night the babysitter came and the girls went OUT on the town...for a little while at least.

Avery started dance a couple of weeks ago and she is really enjoying it. I am NOT experienced in this arena and feel a bit out of my element...SO it helps us both that at least 1 day a week Miss Jenny is her teacher! I was able to get some help and get someone to sneak in her class and take some pics of her last week (thanks Kyle!) Isn't she a pretty little ballerina? Jenny told me she's doing well in class- let's be honest, if that's true it has nothing to do with inherited talent.

FIRST Day of Pre-K!

I gave myself a pep talk this morning.....Pre-K is still preschool. Just because it is AT the Elementary school and Avery will go EVERYDAY, it does not mean she has "started school." It is only 1/2 day. She is still only 4. She IS still my baby. Time really isn't moving at lightening speed... AND it worked- mostly. I shed no tears when I dropped her off today, which is mostly because for the first time ever- neither did she. She was excited and she sat right now and started playing with someone she DIDN'T know. I was a PROUD mama. As usual, I am over the top about all of it- Avery got to go to the mall and pick out a new outfit, pick the dinner menu tonight, go to McDonald's after school AND she got a new Barbie. What is wrong with me? I am really excited about this year and I truly believe it is going to be a great year for Avery. The teachers could not be any sweeter and based on friends' input- they will both be GREAT for Avery and her personality. Most of you know I have been completely stressing about whether or not to hold her back for kindergarten and I for some reason after today, I just feel good about our decision- she will do pre-K this year and that will be a perfect transition for her to kindergarten next year!

Gage and Evelyn have been in T-town since Wednesday of last week while Dylan and Tiff had an anniversary escape. (I have been horrible about taking pics lately, although we have done so many fun things! I promised Avery and Evie a "big girl day" on Friday and I really didn't know what to do with them. We went to the mall for lunch and to play and while they played, I researched. I came across a place in the mid-town part of Tulsa called Diva Girlz and decided THAT was the way to go...it was PERFECT. The girls had hair, makeup, nails done and then got to dress up and sing and play and the best part is, we were the ONLY ones there that day. It was great....I didn't have my camera so pics are courtesy of my phone....and they aren't great.

The girls and I went to Arkansas last weekend to see my mom, my Aunt Sandy and Amy (my cousin) and her girls. We had SO much fun! The weather could not have been more perfect- we spent our mornings at the park and our afternoons in the pool....ahhh, paradise!

I'm a bit behind on posting- summer does that to me. We have been BUSY and doing so many fun things but I never seem to have my camera with me. So, here's the best I can do! My friend, Emily & her husband, Jamie, just bought a fun house in "Mid-town" that they will be fixing up. I think she's insane BUT it is going to be SO SUPER fabulous when they are finished. I love it already I just can't imagine how great it will be in a month. I'm also glad its them and not me :-) We all met over there so we could check out their new digs and then we headed to Andy B's to bowl with the kids.

My 1st attempt at making cake balls...quite festive, don't you think?! Saturday, the 4th, was Macie Drue's and Maddox's family b-day celebration. As always, Jenny outdid herself with their pirate/princess themed party. The girls had wands, crowns & beads and the boys had swords, patches and hats....and the kids loved every minute of it! We ate BBQ, shot some fireworks (or watched in our case), and I got to spend LOTS of time holding sweet Baby Nora which was VERY high on my priority list. Unfortunately I have no pics of Nora to share but I KNOW that Brooke and Jenny got some so I'm hoping they'll share with me soon!

This Week....

June is a big month in the Krieg family...Avery's Birthday, Becky's Birthday and Bob's Birthday! I can always remember Becky's birthday- it is June 11Th- which is the day that Avery got to (finally) come home from the hospital after she was born! We celebrated Becky last week with a dinner at the On the Border (which I left because Avery claimed to have a tummy ache) and then cake at our house. By the way, I made a new recipe (which I highly recommend) White chocolate raspberry cake--YUMMY!

Avery also had one more b-day present arrive yesterday- a gift from her "aunt Mandy." She was SO excited when she saw the box and even more excited when she opened it! Thanks Mandy for the Princess game for her leapster- she and Maddox have both enjoyed it!
The last 2 days we have had some crazy fun! Jenny & Macie Drue went to Dallas to meet baby Nora and spend some time with the rest of the Dunham clan and so Maddox got to spend a couple of days in the Krieg world of women. Maddox & Avery are used to spending quite a bit of time together and so it truthfully was no big deal. We played outside, watched a couple of movies, had soccer, made a trip to the zoo with the White's and went to gymnastics!

It happened again...my baby girl had a birthday and somehow I blinked my eyes and she is 4. Oh she is so ridiculously precious to me. She is her own person and I love it. We have our moments- just like every mom and daughter- but she rocks my world. We had a great time celebrating Avery's 4th! Bob & Gigi were here...which always makes things fun! On her actual birthday we started with a morning party at Pump It Up. It was our first bday party away from our house and it was nice :-) Avery wanted an Olivia party- I don't know why it is that she always picks such difficult themes- so I had to make the invites and improvise on the decor but all in all, it turned out cute, if I do say so myself!

The Last couple of weeks..

As always, things have been crazy around here! We've had lots going on- and most of it has been fun! We went to the Jason Mraz concert with the Dunhams to celebrate David's graduation/30th birthday. It was surprisingly GREAT, I hadn't been to a concert in a long time. Avery had her first ever field trip. She was WAY more excited about loading her car seat up and sitting on the bus than the actual visit but she ended up having a great time. The class went to Cici's, learned how they made pizzas and then got to make their own lunch!

Anna's Cinco de Mayo Last week we had the mom's tea at school. It was bittersweet for me because Avery will be going to "big girl" school next year , assuming I can get her in, so this was our last tea at Cedar Ridge. BUT..Annie will be there next year!

I let Avery pick out a treat at the store and she chose Drumsticks. After finally eating her last green bean I let her have her ice cream and Anna MELTED down. I mean, what was I thinking giving one to my almost 4 year old but not to my 1 year old? SO...of course, I gave in and it was a hilarious sight to see.

Mere- THANKS for the yummy banana bread recipe. Breakfast was a HUGE hit! And, because I'm THAT mom, I couldn't resist trying to pull Anna's hair up in pigtails. I just thought it would be nice to go out JUST ONCE and not have someone ask Avery how old her brother is or telling me how cute "he" is.2 concerts in 2 weeks, WHO ARE WE? The Browns went with Brett & I to Cain's Ballroom to hear Erin McCarley and then some other people that I had never heard of. It was MUCH fun- although I must admit I felt OLD surrounded by the little teenage girls- nothing that matching Erin McCarley t-shirts can't fix! It was FUN to be out although I am now ready for my nap.

We have had a great week and weekend. Last week was one of our most low key weeks in a while- Anna was sick and so that gave us good reason to spend a lot of time at home! After being cooped up the girls wanted to be outside- a lot, so we spent time in the backyard and we even broke out the first Popsicles of the season- and Anna's first Popsicle ever, I think she liked it.

And I knew what to do the next time Brett was off on Friday and it was cold and dreary- i actually started (and yes, I finished on Saturday) a 1000 piece puzzle. yes, i know I'm a dork. Saturday was GORGEOUS! We decided to move our Easter Egg hunt at Grandma's to Saturday since there was a 100% chance of rain on Sunday- the girls had a BLAST!

Just to be clear, Avery is not neglected- I feel like I take more pics of her than Anna but just to be fair this post is devoted strictly to Avery!
Avery and her daddy had a double date last night with her friend, Allie and her dad, Doug (our neighbor friends). The dads took the girls to Sesame Street LIVE to see Elmo and they were SO excited! The fabulous Target $1 rack had some Sesame Street tattoos and hair bows recently so we shared with Allie so the girls were truly in the spirit for the show! They had so much fun!

Who doesn't love a good girls night, right? Oh how I've come to appreciate them! And sometimes I don't even realize I need one- until I get there...that was last night! We had such a fun night- just me, Whitney and Emily. We met at Em's, who of course had everything just PERFECT. We headed to a yummy dinner on the patio at The Bistro- good food, good friends, good wine...ahh, the life. Then back to Emily's for a Twilight viewing! I was the only one who hadn't seen it and OH how I loved it- of course, I'm a book person so to me no movie does a book justice but this one came close! It was great to be with the girls- talk about silly girly things, our kids, our lives... I am so happy that I have found such fun friends. Now I'm just ready for our next night out!

What a crazy weekend! Earlier in the week I saw that they were calling for snow on Saturday and laughed- thinking about how much the local weather people love to exaggerate! HA! This time the joke was on ME. It didn't just snow...it snowed, and snowed and snowed. I think it started at about 8 AM and quit around 6 PM and we got close to 4 inches. It was actually really pretty- as long as you were looking at it from inside! Brett got restless around noon and decided we needed to get out so we took a trip to the mall to see the Easter bunny...Avery's idea- she did fine, Anna loved him, from a distance. She did not want to sit in his lap, so I got to sit with her, lucky me. Today- it is 60 and sunny and we have been to WalMart to get groceries along with the rest of Tulsa. Go figure...

Sick Day

Well you most of you have probably seen my Facebook status regarding Avery's grocery store performance on Monday- but if you haven't- suffice it to say that when your child says they have a tummy ache and they are going to throw up- believe them before its too late. By the time we made it home from the store Avery had a fever and she was just puny so I tucked her under a blanket on the couch- and she stayed there for the remainder of the evening. She stayed home from school yesterday and we were both sad about it so we made the best of it with lots of projects and it ended being a great day!

Wow! We have been on the go since our return home from Texas. For some reason, during our drive home from Dallas, Brett & I made the decision that we were going to OKC to watch a day of the Big XII tournament. Larry and Becky agreed to keep the girls- ALL day and night for us on Thursday and so we we were off! We didn't expect Baylor to BEAT KU...but it happened and then we were forced to go back to OKC on Friday. The girls headed to Arkansas for the weekend and Brett & I headed back to OKC...where once again Baylor surprised us with a HUGE win over the dreaded Longhorns. And so once again we drove back to OKC on Saturday to watch Baylor in a sad loss to Mizzou. It was SO much fun to be with Brett, meet fun new people AND watch the Bears win!! Thanks to our parents for making the weekend possible- we felt young and spontaneous- and we appreciate you guys allowing us to do that!
The girls came home on Sunday afternoon with my mom and then Spring Break started. The weather has been fabulous!! We played with my mom and my aunt yesterday all day and then today we headed out to the zoo with the Dunhams. TOO fun!!!

Last Tuesday after school, the girls and I headed to Frisco to spend some time with Tiffany, Gage and Evelyn while Dylan is away. The girls did so great in the car on the way down and we had SUCH fun with the Frisco Kriegs! Avery and Anna both adore their cousins and I adore my sister in law! Tiff made appointments for Avery and Evie at Sweet and Sassy on Wednesday morning- it was SO cute! We also frequented the parks, caught up on girl talk and truly loved every minute of it.

On Friday morning we left Frisco to head further south (Ha Ha) to Carrollton- we actually were en route to meeting "Aunt Mandy that brings cupcakes" for lunch when I had a massive blowout on the tollway. It was a bit frightening, but as ALWAYS God is good and He sent a couple of people my way who took GREAT care of me. FOR ANYONE reading, if you ever have a flat tire, run out of gas, etc. on the tollway call this number: 214-320-4444 and the Dallas county Courtesy Patrol will come and help you- FOR FREE. They were there quickly and they were SO nice.....WHAT a relief! SO anyway, after much stress we had to miss our lunch with Mandy to instead get a new tire put on my car and by then we were ALL worn out and headed to the Bains to RELAX. The boys had their big night out on Friday night so Brett went straight from the airport to dinner so we didn't get to see him but we did get to see some fun friends. It was GREAT to see the Hausz girls and to play with them at the park...and Brooke and precious little Wyatt joined us later as well.....all in all a good ending to a not to great day! The rest of the weekend was spent just hanging out at the Bain's and attending a fun 2nd b-day party for Reid at the Little Gym and a great breakfast with some of the crew on our way out of town.

We had a GREAT Texas visit- thanks friends (and family!) I missed seeing "my girls" and promise to do that on the next trip. We are, however, worn out and GLAD to be home.... come visit Tulsa anytime :-)!

Super Sunday!

I love weekends- I mean who doesn't, right? I love feeling like there is nothing that we HAVE to do, love spending time together and love watching Brett be such a SUPER dad to our girls. Saturday other than a couple of quick errands (which I got to run all alone!) we were just home so by Sunday, we were ready to get out! We went to church together- another favorite weekend activity of mine- and I just thought the girls looked SO sweet! Avery is wearing a sweater that sweet Grandma Becky bought her and Anna is wearing something that my grandma made for her!

So after naps- it was still just COLD outside and we didn't know what to do and then super Dad had the idea to take the girls to the Y to go swimming. Oh my goodness- Avery couldn't wait once we said that words- she ran upstairs, tore the tags off that new swimsuit and SHE was ready to go. Of course, its never that easy but we did finally manage to get everything together and off we went! We had MUCH fun!!!

I can't believe it, but it is true. Anna Cate is 1 today! She is a fuss pants, a drama queen and a handful and I love her more than words can express. She makes me laugh- often- and even when I want to cry (with her) I just want to hug her close. Happy Birthday baby girl!!

This past weekend was party time at our house! My sweet husband planned a small get together for my b-day on Friday night and it was really fun. Mandy flew in and we met Jenny and the Browns for drinks and appetizers and then the girls came back over to hang out and Tiffany met us here- It was my kind of night! We had some wine, some girl talk and even a couple of games of Guitar Hero. Thanks to PaPa and Grandma Becky for babysitting so that we could celebrate, sans kiddos- and of course, as it goes there were no kids involved so we didn't take many pics and the ones we did get...all are surprisingly similar!

Then on Saturday morning after taking my sweet friend to the airport and running by Papa and Grandma's for a quick hello- I headed home, met my parents and started decorating and getting ready for Anna's b-day party. Brett and Grandma took Avery and her cousins to the kids museum which worked out GREAT for me!! Anna's party was a MUCH more low key than Avery's 1st fiesta- just a small family gathering and it was perfect- other than the fact that the b-day girl was running a temperature and obviously not feeling 100%. (Side note- Avery and Maddox have been referring to each other as "family" recently- which I think is super cute and appropriate so I felt good saying it was a family affair!) There were too many cute pics- I couldn't decide so sorry!

My Girls are Growing up...

and I'm super sappy and emotional about it!!!!! I think the big 3-0 on the horizon is messing with me, seriously. Anna is just a couple weeks away from the big 0-1, which I can't believe and we decided to turn her car seat around today. I know, I know its a little early but she is quite obviously over the weight requirement and she is very advanced for her age, after all :-) AND...most importantly at our house, if Anna is happy the rest of us are much happier!!!!! She didn't really know what to think about the whole thing on her first ride but I liked being able to see her!

For her first big car trip I took the girls to the park on this warm Saturday afternoon while Brett was on the golf course. It was SO fun! Anna is mobile enough now that she really enjoyed it and Avery ALWAYS enjoys a good park trip- in fact she enjoys it so much that it is quite difficult to get a picture of her when we are there!

And on the agenda for tonight- Avery was invited to go to the Tulsa Ballet's performance of Cinderella with her friend Allie. The girls put on dresses and Avery even let me hot roll her hair- which if you know Avery, you know that's a fancy big deal. She looked so cute and she was so excited! And I feel good knowing the tickets were free so when the girls melt down no one will be upset about having to leave! I did manage to get a nice long late nap out of Avery so hopefully when 10:30 rolls around she isn't horribly unpleasant to be around....but we'll see how it goes. I'm just hoping to be able to stay awake until she gets here! For now, Brett and I are ready to sit down, eat dinner alone..and cheer on the Baylor Bears.

Ahh...taking my weekend away in Dallas was one of the best decisions I've made in recent memory. I LOVED seeing the friends that I was able to...and of course missed those that I wasn't! The outlet shopping in Allen, who knew I would find so many must haves? Even a new purse for myself for the big 3-0 that's just around the corner. I needed the break from my kids and they needed the break from me. So, I came home REFRESHED...although maybe not as rested as I had planned :-) AND the timing was ideal because we, like most of you, have been iced in most of this week! I tried to be creative with entertainment- all I know is that I'm thankful Avery has a friend in the neighborhood- it made all the difference! We did do a craft or 2....and Avery even decided to rock out on Guitar hero- she's hooked now too! On Thursday, we braved the mall- along with most of the residents of the greater Tulsa area. Holy cow, what a zoo! But Anna got lots of walking practice, which she enjoyed. Yes, she is taking steps- and adding more everyday. It's SO stinking cute, I can't stand it! I am glad its the weekend- looking forward to low key time with my little fam. We invited some new friends over for dinner on Saturday night--look at us, aren't we social- I mean it only took us 2 years, right?

My Happily Ever After

Once upon a time in a land that now seems quite far away (a land called Baylor, which trust me is a land of its own) lived a young girl from Kansas. This young lady had kissed many a frog (yes..laugh it up, I said many)and then in the fall of 1998 the young girl met her prince charming. He was funny, cute, smart and just dorky enough...and the young girl fell, - hard. Exactly 7 years ago, at 2:00 in the afternoon the prince and the young girl were married. Since that day there have been many more ups than downs and I, the young girl from Kansas, feel blessed beyond words. I have no idea what God has in store for us in the years ahead, but I know no matter what I get to face it with the true love of my life- my prince charming- and that together with our God and our girls- we will continue to live our happily ever after.

I love happy babies and I finally have one again!! Anna went to see an ENT on Dec. 31st because of her multiple ear infections. He told us that she was borderline on both hearing and her tempanogram tests so we could either schedule a surgery to have tubes put in or schedule a follow up visit in 6 weeks. Being the wimp that I am, I scheduled the follow up visit. After leaving, I called and talked to several friends, family members, etc. and despite my reservations, the following Monday I called and instead scheduled Anna Cate for her tube surgery on that next Thursday, January 8th. I ended up having to take her to see the pediatrician on Wed for what I assumed was a cold- only to find out that once again she had ear infections in both ears. God is good! What?? Yes, I typed that right- I NEEDED that confirmation that I had made the right decision!!! So Thursday morning, we were at the hospital at 5:45 AM for surgery...and we were back home by 8:30! Everything went great-it was not fun, she was fussy before and after, but then she slept all day and now...I HAVE MY SWEET, HAPPY, HUNGRY, SLEEPING baby girl back!!! I could not be more thankful!!! She has even taken a couple of steps over the last few days- look out world.

Christmas

What a Christmas! I think this may be my favorite Christmas season that I can remember! It was almost perfect...we started off sick but got healthy and Brett had to work way more than I would've liked but I can't think of anything else I would've changed. Both of the girls enjoyed the festivities from start to finish...decorating, baking, looking at lights, shopping for presents, opening presents but mostly they enjoyed being together with both sides or our completely amazing family. I love my girls and know that they were just spoiled rotten this Christmas by everyone...but so was I, so who am I to complain, right? Santa came to our house on Christmas Eve and we started about 7 am on Christmas morning- Avery woke up before Anna so she got to see what Santa brought her and we got a few minutes alone with her. Then Annie woke up and we raced up the stairs to get her for her first Christmas morning. After we finished up..we left, mess and all, and headed to Larry and Becky's for our Krieg family Christmas. Then Friday we headed to Arkansas and did Christmas with the Walkers on Saturday morning! It was crazy, busy and TOO FUN!!!

Her driving skills leave something to be desired but we're getting there!

Pre-Christmas Fun

We had SUCH a fun Christmas holiday. I was worried because ALL 4 of us were sick the week leading up to Christmas but we pulled off quick recoveries and we were able to enjoy every minute. Brett and his amazing friends surprised "the wives" with a limo ride on the Tuesday before Christmas. It was such fun to sit and catch up with our friends---and look at some Christmas lights along the way!

The cute Kincaids. Tamara is SUCH fun and such a trooper, she's expecting a baby boy this spring (I know you can't even tell she's so cute...) but she can still stay up later than me. Sad...

The Hills. ALWAYS good when we get to see them, it just doesn't happen often enough! Florida is a bit too far away but hopefully in just a few short years they will at least be within driving distance!
The super fun Webbs....they live less than 30 minutes from us and we still never get to see them. They are BUSY, FUN and they are good to put up with all of the kid talk from the rest of us.....

For a special Christmas eve outing, Larry and Becky took the whole family to see the afternoon performance of The Rockettes Christmas show at the new BOK center in downtown Tulsa. We ALL really enjoyed the show- even Anna! Our seats were amazing, the show was great and the kids were so good. Becky also bought cute matching outfits for all the kids to wear- Avery and Evie were so excited to be matching, it was really cute!

Stir Crazy

Okay after bragging yesterday about surviving our two days of ice...today we are crazy. Literally. Avery and I have colored, painted, baked, danced and danced, and now we are done. SO I bundled up the girls and we went sledding down the street in a laundry basket. I am sure the neighbors were getting a good view and a good laugh but I don't care. We had FUN and we all feel refreshed. The girls are napping, I'm resting and the ice is melting!

So this is our 2ND day to basically be iced in. The major roads are drive able but everything else is a mess. I ventured out today for a quick run to the bank and Walgreens and I was out for well over an hour- won't be trying that again. Yesterday when I woke up I was worried about what in the world I would do with my kids all day long. I can handle being at home all day- as long as I know its by choice, not by force!!! But my neighbor called to see if Avery could come down and play...and so she did from lunch until dinner-it was quiet around here. Today was my turn to return the favor so I have had two 3-year olds since lunch. So far, so good- actually easier than having one 3-year old! Anyway....here are pics of our activities...

It's officially the Christmas season and I think this year will be our most fun yet! Avery is at SUCH a fun age this year and who doesn't love baby's first Christmas?! I was so worried about putting up my trees- Anna is just so curious about everything...but so far she has showed very little interest in the whole thing (She is way more interested in the fireplace!) So far this year the house is decorated, the shopping is almost complete, we have worked on our Christmas carols almost every night, the cards are addressed and ready to go and we made it to see Santa- with no meltdowns!!! Most importantly, we are trying to teach Avery about the reason we celebrate Christmas and hoping that each year she'll understand a little bit more. I hope that you are enjoying the holidays are much as we are!

Thankful for Thanksgiving

Oh how I love this time of year. I really love when Brett is home for more than a couple of quick days and we can just hang out and enjoy our family time. Brett took off Tuesday last week so he and I could go Christmas shopping together. We had SUCH a fun day and we got a lot done (thanks Grandma Becky!!) Then Tuesday night we headed to Arkansas for a Walker Thanksgiving. It was fabulous...the food, the family, the football oh yes and the late night Baylor Basketball games were fun too. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the time with my little brother- that Johnny Walker is a piece of work. The girls adore Bob and Gigi, as do I.... The weather was PERFECT. The first couple of days it was gorgeous, the boys played 2 rounds of golf and the girls frequented the park! Then, as if on cue, on Sunday morning as we were packing up the beautiful snow flurries began to fall!

Anna's favorite toy at Gigi's- by far- was Addie....and that old dog was quite a good sport!

Avery is hilarious- she is so full of personality that truthfully it is sometimes overwhelming. Lately she has decided that Dancing with the Stars (or as she calls it, "the dance show") is her favorite show on television. I thought she claimed to like it so much because

1. I love it

2. Watching means she gets to stay up late

3. It is an excuse to play dress up

BUT I finally know the truth- my child loves to dance!!! Okay, let's be clear this is not an inherited talent and her coordination is lacking but the point is- she loves it and she loves to perform. She REALLY likes it when daddy will dance with her but when he won't a baby doll will work just fine!!! She CRACKS me UP...she watches while she dances and tries to duplicate the moves.

I think my girls were almost too worn out with Halloween festivities to actually Trick or Treat on Halloween! We had big plans but the reality was a few houses in the neighborhood and home to eat a piece of chocolate (Avery) and fall quickly into bed(all of us!) We met some little girls from down the street and I think they all enjoyed going together- they felt big, and let's face it, they are!
