A Walker Family Christmas

We have SO enjoyed our Christmas this year with Avery. My parents arrived on the 20th and Avery could not have been more thrilled to see them. My mom cracked me up- when John and I were little she was SUCH a traditionalist and there was no way she would be convinced to let us open anything early- but she was ready to let Avery open the SECOND she saw her. We were able to hold her off until Saturday and finally there could be no more stalling and Avery got her new WAGON from Bob and gigi. It's pretty fancy and she was REALLY excited. On Saturday evening we went to a fun dinner with Larry and Becky and Bob and Ann at a Tulsa steak place called The Spudder. It was yummy and good to all be together. The weather got REALLY cold and we even got a little bit of snow so when we got home, the girls got all bundled in our pj's and settled in for the night!Avery couldn't wait for the assembly so she just hopped right in!YEAH! Daddy completed the wagon and Avery and her baby Jaycee were ready for a ride indoors.Dad was quickly convinced that with the right amount of bundling a quick outdoor ride would be fun :-)
On Sunday Uncle John was arriving in the afternoon! I was SUPER excited to have my brother at my house for a couple of days, I just don't get to see him very often so it was nice to just be able to hang out. Avery was also excited to see him and asked about every 5 minutes if he was here yet! We had to make some MORE sugar cookies, they are one of the few sweet Uncle John enjoys and of course Avery was THRILLED to do some more baking. Then we made a quick trip to "Icky Donald's" for lunch in hopes that Avery would be able to PLAY and burn off some of the abundance of energy that she had. My mom bought Avery a new outfit and a doll in a matching outfit that last time we were there, the doll is named Caitlin...they looked pretty cute all dressed and ready to go. Johnny arrived Sun. evening and we ate at home and then Avery spent some time playing with her Grandbob.

Christmas Eve!! I think I was more excited about Christmas than anyone else. Avery was scared to death that she was actually going to have to see Santa so she was pretty uncertain about the arrival of this day. The boys all played golf during the morning so we did a few things around the house. Avery and I made food for the reindeer- which consisted of cereal and some red and green sugar! She really enjoyed the mixing. Larry's family was at their house for the day and so they came by for a little while to say hi.

Since my family all had to take off on Christmas day we decided to do our big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. We had a great dinner and it was REALLY fun to do it at my house this year. Of course, it helped to have my mom there to do the cooking WITH me :-)! After dinner, we went and looked at lights and then Larry and Becky came by for dessert. My mom let Avery open her stocking from them and Avery THOROUGHLY enjoyed the opening! She moved quickly from one gift to the next but when it was all finished she played with just about all of it! After presents we went outside and fed the reindeer before heading to bed!
Merry Christmas! We opened presents, ate some breakfast, and then said a farewell to the Walker clan. My parents left for Israel yesterday and will be there for the next 12 days so they needed to get home and get their stuff together! My brother headed back to Austin- he is moving into his very first house and had LOTS to do! Brett, Avery and I packed up and made the quick trip to Perry, OK to see Becky's family for the afternoon. We had SUCH A Merry Christmas!!!
Mom getting Avery out of bed on Christmas morningAvery opening her present from her Uncle JohnThe boys opening their presents- and they may both still be half asleepBrett, a bit surprised and excited about his new coffee pot from the Walkers Avery making toast!
Doing one of the things that she loves BEST- reading! This book is especially important since it is about being a BIG SISTER, which Avery will be very soon.Sick of pictures and already worn out- Avery discovers that Santa has left a note telling her to go outsideYEAH! Avery going inside her new playhouse- way to go SANTA!Avery calling Santa to thank him for her toys.

Brett is off for the "rest of the year." We are REALLY enjoying having him around. Today we had a big day- we took Avery to BounceU this morning for their preschool playdate open bounce. She had a BLAST and was completely worn out when it was over. Then this afternoon we made a family trip to the Doctor and got another good report! The Frisco Kriegs are arriving on Saturday afternoon and we will be having our Krieg family Christmas this weekend :-) We are all excited- Avery is back to asking at least once an hour if its time for Gage and Evie to be here.
